DON’T BE DECEIVED BY APPEARANCES
Power requirements vary depending on the type of vessel and its hull. Very heavy vessels, for example, have high water resistance and, due to their greater friction, do not allow for optimal navigation with standard engines at low speeds. Large-displacement vessels therefore require outboards capable of meeting the required thrust, such as the new Suzuki DF40A ARI and the new DF 300B.
This model is named ARI, which in Japanese means ant, an insect capable of carrying loads 30 times its weight. This ideogram expresses the immense power of this 40HP outboard, designed for medium-sized vessels that frequently sail fully loaded or for those who prefer to purchase larger boats but still want to use an engine without a license. Equipped with a special drive unit called the Suzuki High Energy Rotation System, it delivers 42% more thrust in forward gear, improving the outboard’s efficiency during acceleration by as much as 12%.
This system offers finer and more precise control at low speeds, such as when maneuvering in narrow waters, ensuring a consistently enjoyable onboard experience. The new DF40A ARI is based on the proven high-performance engine already on the market with the DF40A, a three-cylinder engine with a DOHC double overhead camshaft (DOHC) fuel system and four valves per cylinder.
Its architecture offers many advantages over a four-cylinder engine: compactness and lightness, resulting in a better power-to-weight ratio; fewer moving parts and friction, resulting in less risk of wear; and lower specific fuel consumption, which also translates to a lower environmental impact. This factor is enhanced by the Suzuki Lean Burn Control System, an intelligent fuel management system capable of ensuring maximum efficiency while maintaining high power and performance.
